Schmidt Returns to Artprize with a Distinctive Limited Edition of 3 Indoor Sculptures at the Ford Museum

We are thrilled to announce Ryan T. Schmidt returns to Artprize, with a distinctive collection of three indoor sculptures, set to be showcased once more at the Gerald Ford Museum. In the past, Schmidt has exhibited large-scale sculptures at the front entrance of the museum. This year, while this may be his smallest and inaugural indoor sculpture installation at Artprize, it holds the utmost significance.

Join us at this year's Artprize September 13 to 28, 2024 at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum located at 303 Pearl St NW Grand Rapids, Michigan 49504 between 10:00 AM and 8:00 PM daily and Sundays 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Significance of this year's Artprize entry, "Serendipity"

Serendipity was designed to reach a height of 50ft. tall with the purpose of becoming a prominent feature in a city or structure, acting as a landmark or destination that will inspire the community and impact its economy. The idea was to create free flowing movement with appeal from all angles. It was moulded and embodied with clay without a sketch in free-form lines of twisted metal. The scale of the sculpture will be awe-inspiring to its viewers seeing a striking monumental centerpiece. This limited edition collection of its scale will be significant to the history of the sculpture in providing a positive and impactful experience for the public and visitors of Artprize.
